• Students at Augustana College, Sioux Falls, S.D., slept in a van to raise $5,000 and awareness of missing people. The effort culminated in an Oct. 24 concert by Clementine, part of the Squeaky Wheel Tour, which works to bring attention to the missing. Clementine member Jannel Rap’s sister, Gina Bos, disappeared in 2000, leaving behind three children and six siblings.

Pacific Lutheran University, Tacoma, Wash., received a $1 million endowment for a chair in Holocaust studies and an annual educational conference. Robert Erickson, chair of the school’s history department and first recipient of the professorship, said the endowment will grow to also fund student research grants.
