Faster Pastors

They call themselves the “Faster Pastors.”

No, it has nothing to do with how fast they preach or serve communion. Five pastors and a lay member from the Northwest Synod of Wisconsin recently ran in the Ragnar Great River Relay that begins in La Crosse and ends 210 miles and 30 hours later in Minneapolis. Each ran three legs of the relay and each leg was between 8 and 16 miles long.

They also raised more than $8,000 (including matching funds from Thrivent Financial for Lutherans) for pastoral training in their companion synod, the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Malawi.

From left are Jim Page, Trinity, Eau Claire; Alan Buresh, First, New Richmond; Jim Johnson, a member of Mount Zion, Hudson; Jay Ticknor, Bethany, Grantsburg; Doug Brandt, Immanuel, Glenwood City; Brian Ferguson, Mount Zion, Hudson.
