The Magazine of The Evangelical Lutheran Church in America

Past, present, future

Wide range of issues and rarely dull

Just as summer slips into autumn, The Lutheran shifts gears this month by looking to the past while positioning for the future.

First, you had to unwrap the magazine from the package it arrived in along with the “ELCA Good Gifts” catalog. The Lutheran has hosted the catalog a few years now. Yes, it’s a little cumbersome, but the bundled mailing is the most cost-effective way to reach the largest number of ELCA households about opportunities to support the terrific work sponsored across the globe by our denomination.

Flip to the survey for 25 suggestions on major stories in 2008. The magazine culled suggestions from readers and church leaders over the past year and listed the most frequently mentioned topics. Mark your top 10, or add an idea. The survey may be mailed or faxed (773-380-2409) to us, or filled out online.
