Surprises happen ...

when kids read the Bible

I was setting up to teach Sunday school one morning when Jacob called my name. “Miss Carol, I want to show you something,” he said.

I paused to listen. “I was reading my Bible this morning in church,” said the 10-year-old, who had attended the early service. “I was reading in Ezekiel, and I was reading this: ‘And there were figures resembling four living things. And they had an appearance like a man. And each of them had four faces and four wings’ ” (1:5-7).

Jacob looked up thoughtfully, put a finger to his chin and added, “I thought, hmm, that’s pretty interesting, and then I kept reading here, ‘Each had the face of a man, the face of a lion on their right, the face of a bull on the left, and the face of an eagle’ (1:10). And then I looked up.”
