Theophila (Stolz) Philippi works in the laundry at a mission in Bena Bena Village in Papua New Guinea’s Eastern Highlands Province. Ten years earlier, she’d married Leon Philippi, a newly ordained pastor in the former American Lutheran Church. A native Australian, she served with him in Papua New Guinea from her marriage until 1972. Before his ordination, Philippi did construction work at the mission from 1946 to 1949.
