The Lutheran magazine won six awards at the Associated Church Press convention April 22-25 in Chicago. Other ELCA publications and journalists also received awards for their 2006 work.
The Lutheran won four awards of merit: magazine cover for “How faith changes” (May) of an elderly woman and young boy praying in a pew by photographer Chris Ocken and art director Michael D. Watson.
This category had the largest number of entries (47), and the judge
wrote: “This appealing photo effectively communicates the story topic
(and, of course, the little boy is irresistible)—an excellent example
of how to compose a successful magazine cover photo.”
