No generation gap

Farmer keeps the faith...and the farm

It shouldn’t surprise anyone that Curtis Reichard is a member of Solomon Lutheran Church in Chambersburg, Pa. After all, a member of his family has been part of the congregation since before the foundation for the church was laid in 1833.

Curtis’ aunt, records show, was the eighth generation of Reichards, making Curtis the ninth.

“I knew we had been here for a long time, but I was surprised when I found out exactly how long,” Reichard said. “It’s really amazing.”

What’s equally impressive is the family’s long history with its farm. Curtis, following in his father’s footsteps, is the eighth generation to run Reich-Dale Farm in Gulliford Township.
