The Annunciation reconsidered

There's more to the story than Gabriel's request and Mary's consent

Imagine you’re on a game show. The host gives you the first line of a story and you have to identify where it comes from. The host says: “Call me Ishmael.” “Moby Dick,” you answer. “Right! Here’s the next one: ‘It was the best of times, it was the worst of times ....’ ” You know it’s from Charles Dickens, but which novel? “Tale of Two Cities?” you say tentatively. Correct.
