Harvests and homework

A Salvadoran girl does her schoolwork on a sack of seed delivered to her family by the Lutheran World Federation El Salvador program, which helps families re-establish their food supply after Tropical Storm Stan hit in October 2005.

Many farmers lost their harvests after Stan touched down in southern Mexico and Central America. Agricultural losses were estimated at $48.7 million, with the biggest effect felt among subsistence farmers.

LWF is a member of the global alliance Action by Churches Together, and its assistance to farmers was supported by ACT members worldwide.
