Sister Edith Prince (right) seems about to be drawn into a snowball fight among Lutheran deaconesses at the Philadelphia Motherhouse of Deaconesses in 1941. The motherhouse was part of the United Lutheran Church in America, an ELCA predecessor. Prince (1897-1982), who was stationed at the Ebenezer Home, Frederiksted, St. Croix, Virgin Islands from 1929 to 1953, may have been in Philadelphia for training or an event.
