Report from the Reformed Church in America meeting

Meeting June 8-13 at Central College, Pella, Iowa, the Reformed Church in America General Synod:

• Affirmed a 10-year goal to revitalize congregations and start new ones.

• Instructed RCA General Secretary Wesley Granberg-Michaelson to write to President George W. Bush, Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice and U.S. Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist regarding the need to relax travel restrictions for church leaders between the U.S. and Cuba.

• Voted to continue a dialogue on homosexuality begun by the 2005 General Synod.

• Approved an exchange of ministers with the Christian Reformed Church in North America, which must gain final approval fromthe RCA’s classes (regional groupings).
