Move over, American Idol. The search is on for America’s “most exciting church choir.”
That’s how LayFayette Productions is billing this newest reality TV program: Voices of Joy. A network agreement has yet to be reached, but the choir search is on. In September auditions will be held in Boston; New York; Philadelphia; Washington, D.C.; Atlanta; Miami; Chicago; Detroit; New Orleans; Dallas; Los Angeles; and Seattle. The winning choir from each city will compete this fall in a multiepisode series, with the ultimate winner receiving a $500,000 scholarship for its church.
Choirs are encouraged to submit a tape or DVD of three songs by Aug. 18 (www.voicesofjoytv.com).
