At a recent meeting in Chicago, ELCA unit
leaders were asked what message they took with them from the recently
concluded synod assemblies (see "Synod assemblies’ actions are wide-ranging").
I
attended eight such gatherings in the Midwest, looking for feedback on
the magazine. Yes, the ears got burned a few times, but people did note
positive changes in overall content.
However, three comments came up most often about canceled subscriptions to The Lutheran:
the congregation dropped its subscription plan to cut costs; some
members are concerned over a single topic they think has been covered
unfairly; members don’t care what’s going on elsewhere.
