After Hollywood

Actress finds 'time to give back'

Linda Kelsey did what few working TV actresses would ever contemplate. She left Hollywood. Best known for her role as the reporter Billie for five seasons on Lou Grant, Kelsey, her husband and two children moved nine years ago to Hudson, Wis.—not exactly the hot spot for performers.

But the family found a spiritual home at Memorial Lutheran Church, Afton, Minn., where Kelsey joined the choir. Soon she discovered that leaving Hollywood didn’t mean ending her professional career. She began appearing in plays at several regional theaters. And, thanks to contacts at Memorial, Kelsey was able to combine her acting skills with her Christian faith to help develop a new ministry.

Loving Presents was created by Kelsey, Patty Matthews, wife of Memorial’s former pastor John Matthews, and their friend Deb Clayton, a classical pianist. The three collaborate to create recordings of music and spoken word.
