A 'long and good' relationship

ELCA secretary meets Orthodox Ecumenical Patriarch.

ELCA Secretary Lowell Almen (left) was among 17 members who met with Orthodox Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew March 17 in Istanbul. Bartholomew, leader of the world’s Orthodox Christians, noted the “long and good fraternal relationship” with the ELCA that has “deepened” through international theological dialogue. “It is absolutely necessary for the churches around the world to be in permanent dialogue to seek a closer collaboration and fellowship,” he said.
