Truth-telling opens the way to reconciliation

Some analysts of modern culture suggest that repentance and public confession have virtually no meaning. Even though we live in an age of massive self-deception, both repentance and public confession are marks of the Christian life and part of our Lenten disciplines.

A culture of deception will have no place for public confession, however, if blaming supersedes responsibility and “spinning” replaces truth-telling.
