Running big ads in big newspapers seems to be paying off threefold for Lutheran Disaster Response, seeking volunteers for the long-term recovery effort along the Gulf Coast following Hurricane Katrina.
Michael Nevergall of LDR reports that 10 to 15 people sign up for information on volunteering every day on www.ldr.org, up from four to five a day before the first ads ran in December. “The ad also lets people know to plan on being there for a long time, with energy and persistence to get the work done,” Nevergall says.
