Meeting Nov. 11-13 in Chicago, the ELCA Church
Council took action on a worship resource, mission funding, governance
issues and discipline of ministers.
The council received
a report on the liturgical review process for “Evangelical Lutheran
Worship,” a primary worship resource developed through the five-year
“Renewing Worship” project (www.renewingworship.org)
begun in 2000. In addition to 10 musical settings for communion, the
red, hardcover worship book includes more than 700 hymns and music and
original artwork.
The council commended “Evangelical Lutheran
Worship” to congregations for use as “an enriching addition to [ELCA]
worship patterns.” The council asked project leaders to introduce it
throughout the ELCA.
