Beyond dualistic thinking

How can we get the church to move beyond dualistic thinking that separates heaven and earth, male and female, etc., which promotes hierarchies and denies wholeness?

You have contributed to the ongoing movement advocated by many thoughtful Christians and students of Scripture just by asking the question. This movement is the work of the Spirit whose mission it is to bring all things together in harmony in Christ. “Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate,” spoken by Jesus in the context of marriage, is also appropriate here. Reality must sometimes be described in terms of paradox where seemingly opposite things are said in order to speak the truth.

In honest and perceptive Bible study—particularly of the Gospels and Paul’s writings—the Spirit brings about the salvation and healing God wills for all creation.
