Daniel Duke, pastor of Grace Lutheran, New Orleans, leads members in a
commemoration/celebration service Oct. 23 in the church parking lot
before processing to a funeral home, which is providing the
congregation worship space. This is the congregation’s first service
since Hurricane Katrina covered their building (below) with 6 feet of
sludge and mold, tossed pews about and damaged the organ. For more
hurricane coverage, see page 12.
The Lutheran plans a story in the March issue on vocation and job loss. Tell us about your journey through the thicket of unemployment and how you found new bearings, direction for your life, plus how your faith was a compass for that journey. Send 200 words along with contact information and congregational membership to firstname.lastname@example.org.
