Celebration amid destruction

Daniel Duke, pastor of Grace Lutheran, New Orleans, leads members in a commemoration/celebration service Oct. 23 in the church parking lot before processing to a funeral home, which is providing the congregation worship space. This is the congregation’s first service since Hurricane Katrina covered their building (below) with 6 feet of sludge and mold, tossed pews about and damaged the organ.
