Our congregation gives the pastor a six-week sabbatical (beyond vacation) after seven years of service. Recently a pastor used this time to hang out. He did some haphazard reading and sat in on classes, but it was without direction. Is a sabbatical for intentional, directed study or just a break?
Isn't it a conflict of interest for the pastor to be the church council president? Shouldn't the pastor allow members to run the church's business? Does the pastor have "veto" power?
