Recently I've become more familiar with music I'd known only slightly: Irish spiritual songs and sacred chant. The most well-known singer in this tradition is the remarkable soprano Noirin Ni Riain. She has extensively researched the roots of ancient Irish music, particularly that of the church, and has specialized in recovering various forms of lost music.
While she has made many recordings, two CDs most dramatically represent this sacred tradition. They are Vox de Nube (Voice from the Cloud) and The Virgin's Lament.
