Reflections on shock and awe

Awe is for life in a newborn child.
Awe is for galaxies the womb of our mother earth.
Awe is for intricacies and miracles within the web of life.
Awe is for love, for compassion, for grace and for truth.

Shock is for terrorized innocence caught among
the madmen of histories march.
Shock is Iraqi women seeking premature cesareans
for fear of insanity’s bombs.
Shock is for the offering of human sacrifice
for the security of a fraction of the human race
Shock is for our naming of God to sanctify the
obliteration of the children of God.
