ELCA colleges have responded to the war in a variety of ways:

Dana College, Blair, Neb., has held a noon “Gathering for Peace” since
February—including readings, prayers, songs and discussions. The
gathering will continue as long as necessary.
• Students,
faculty and staff at Gustavus Adolphus College, St. Peter, Minn., tied
ribbons on a chair placed by the chapel baptismal font, highlighting a
quote from Nobel Peace Prize winner Pablo Neruda, “Peace begins in a
single chair.” Two years ago, Gustavus commissioned a symphony
celebrating the 100th anniversary of the Nobel prizes, and composer
Steve Heitzeg wrote a piece that included this quote.
