LCMS critiques ELCA sexuality recommendations

The report of the Task Force for ELCA Studies on Sexuality “does not speak clearly and authoritatively regarding homosexual behavior and the ordination of those who are openly involved in such behavior,” says a Lutheran Church–Missouri Synod response to the recommendations.

Prepared by the office of LCMS President Gerald B. Kieschnick, the document was signed by the six LCMS representatives on the Committee on Lutheran Cooperation and by the two LCMS representatives to theological dialogues with the ELCA, states Kieschnick’s pastoral letter that accompanied the document. The CLC is a LCMS-ELCA group that meets regularly to discuss concerns facing both church bodies.
