Should theology be for theologians only? Not according to the Lutheran scholars from around the world who contributed to The Gift of Grace: The Future of Lutheran Theology (Fortress Press, 2005; www.fortresspress.org; 800-328-4648). The book is a compilation of essays that address the current state of Lutheran theology and where it is headed.
Chapters cover basic theological concepts such
as grace, law and gospel, justification and the cross. Crucial topics
such as reconciliation and forgiveness in an unjust society, science
and the church, and Lutheran theology and everyday life also are
included.
