LWR quilt and Thrivent raise $415,000

Quickly—what comes to mind when you think of Lutheran World Relief? Bet you said "quilt."
Long a hallmark of LWR's work — which encompasses development projects as well as relief — the quilt allowed individuals, families and groups these last months to support the organization's ministries worldwide in a special way. For $40 to $5,000 per square the symbolic LWR Community Quilt became reality (March, page 10).

Helped by a Thrivent Financial for Lutherans initial grant of $125,000 and a challenge grant that doubled each gift of $1,000 or more, the Community Quilt raised more than $415,000 by the March 1 challenge-grant deadline.
