Each year, the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops' Office of Film and Broadcasting releases a Top Ten film list. In an unscientific method, The Lutheran surveyed ELCA bishops by e-mail to find out their favorite movies of 2004. Roughly 15 of the 65 bishops responded via their communications staff; the rest were apparently at the movies.
"Sorry, I've only seen one movie this year and I couldn't recommend it. I did, however, get two rounds of golf in," responded Steve Ullestad, bishop of the Northeastern Iowa Synod.
Bishops who saw at least one movie recommend: Ray, The Passion of the Christ, Shrek II, Shall We Dance, The Polar Express, Fahrenheit 9/11, Spider-Man 2, The Day After Tomorrow, Saved! and Finding Neverland.
