Praying together long distance

During an early morning worship service at Peace Lutheran Church, Rosenberg, Texas, Pastor Norm Albertson moved around the congregation praying with people who had individual requests. He noticed a grandfather proudly holding his granddaughter, and prayed with the family, especially for the girl's father, a combat officer serving in Baghdad, Iraq. "Just as I moved over to them, the little girl's mother opened up her cell phone and spoke quietly, saying, 'Just listen,' " Albertson recalls. He proceeded to pray for Kirby and her dad, Justin Richardson. And yes, it was Justin on the other end. "One never knows just how far prayer makes it around the world or who hears," Albertson said. From left are Albertson, Jill Richardson and her daughter Kirby, and Richardson's parents, Kenneth and Virginia Filip.
