Wherever we went in Suriname, they knew her and called out in a loving manner, "Dominee," which means "pastor." Lucretia van Ommeren, the young single daughter of a lay preacher, is the first and only female Lutheran pastor in Paramaribo, Suriname's capital. She drives fast and works hard in a country with two major Christian denominations: Moravian Brethren and Roman Catholic.
