A site partially sponsored by the National Council of Churches USA, The Benefit Bank is a combination Web and brick-and-mortar establishment to help low-income individuals and families in Florida, Kansas and Pennsylvania. At Benefit Bank sites, members work with a counselor to file federal and state taxes, register to vote, and apply for benefits such as food stamps, child health insurance, child-care subsidies, Medicaid, pharmaceutical coverage for the elderly and energy assistance. There is no fee for services.
