Working for women's lives

Hagila Zabaar is one of thousands of women forced from their jobs by the Taliban. The Revolutionary Association of the Women of Afghanistan, a 25-year-old political advocacy group based in Pakistan, is famous for its covertly filmed portrayals of the atrocities committed against women, which are circulated through its Web site (www.rawa.org) and the media.

Pushing for basic rights, RAWA tells of women such as Hagila being banned from work, forbidden to leave their homes without a male, and systematically beaten, terrorized and oppressed.
