Eyes turn to the East

How can we better understand what we see?

On Jan. 6 on our Western Christian calendar, our eyes turn to the East as we celebrate Epiphany. The Gospel tells us that "wise men from the East came" following the rising of the star (Matthew 2:1-2).

On the Eastern calendar, that day is when Arabic Christians in the Middle East gather to rejoice in the birth of Christ. They celebrate Christmas.

It's the same day, but two different celebrations and two different perspectives.
