Eighteen members of St. Andrew's United, an international church supported by the ELCA, left Cairo and crossed into the Sinai. We followed in the footsteps not only of the people of the Exodus but of early Christian pilgrims who traveled to this holy land on their spiritual pilgrimages. We were of different nationalities and denominations.
Our pilgrimage was a mix of religious devotion and mundane curiosity, historical reflections and present faith journeys, sacred sites and modern realities. This weekend we followed in the footsteps of Egeria, a fourth century female pilgrim. We read her diary as we traveled along the pilgrimage trail of the Exodus.
