'It's a family'

Walking to a cot along the back wall of the six-bed ward, Dr. Roseline Razanamampionona smiles at her patient, Lipi, a thin, strained-looking woman with lackluster eyes.

Lipi, who refused to give her last name, is recovering after the birth of her third child three days ago. Her other children also are patients at the Lutheran Health Care Bangladesh's hospital in Dumki. Dehydrated and vulnerable, they lie curled around their mother. Without hospital care, she could have lost them all.
