'When I am afraid, I put my trust in you' (Psalm 56:3)


Do you suffer from fear? Are you experiencing profound panic because of terrorist hijackings, anthrax outbreaks, threats of war? Do you struggle with anxiety due to chronic illnesses, debilitation or terminal cancer?

For those without such fears, perhaps this column will be helpful as you care for those who struggle with long-term suffering or dread.

One day last year it seemed that God had moved the bookmarks for my devotions because the assigned Psalm so remarkably matched my hunger for comfort. I had been on crutches for more than a year because of wounds on my crippled foot. Then I fell and injured my good leg. Being in a wheelchair complicated caring for my other disabilities, so I was quite distressed when I opened my Bible.
