Bruce Wilkinson's The Prayer of Jabez: Breaking Through to the Blessed Life (Multinomah, 2000) has caused such a sensation that we should look more closely at its claims.
Wilkinson makes many good points. But his preface insists that 1 Chronicles 4:10, "tucked away in the Bible, ... contains the key to a life of extraordinary favor with God." Yet why should this obscure passage be our "model prayer"?
