Mending a congregation's heart

Through a shattered pottery vessel, we experienced brokenness, healing, wholeness and hope

A congregation can and should be a place where the human heart receives comfort and healing. When a congregation experiences clergy sexual misconduct, broken hearts are everywhere.

The aftermath of clergy sexual misconduct reaches well past the obvious casualties. Direct victims of sexual abuse feel used and broken (see page 12). There is a deep sadness that a career in ministry will likely end. To many pastors, that is a death sentence. And when this tragedy occurs within the context of a congregation, effects seep into the very faith foundation of a congregation.
