Films can be appreciated on several levels. The people who vote for the Academy Awards every March concentrate on production values — the quality of the acting, directing, cinematography or writing. We are partial to good stories that show us a range of human possibilities. This year's best spiritual films also reveal how the Spirit's gifts — grace, hope, hospitality, love and yearning — can show up in the most surprising places.
