The 13-member Task Force for ELCA Studies on Sexuality met in Chicago for its first meeting, May 3-5. The group, appointed in March, is working with studies director James M. Childs Jr., professor of ethics at Trinity Lutheran Seminary, Columbus, Ohio, to lead the study mandated by the 2001 Churchwide Assembly.

These questions will come before the 2005 Churchwide Assembly. The group also will develop a sexuality social statement for consideration in 2007.
