AAL/LB becomes Thrivent

Thrivent Financial for Lutherans, the result of a team effort to rename the new Aid Association for Lutherans/ Lutheran Brotherhood organization, will soon be the company's official name.

After soliciting suggestions from thousands of Lutherans nationwide, the AAL/LB team proposed Thrivent, which was approved by 79 percent of voting members. The name awaits completion of state and federal approval processes. The Jan. 1, 2002, merger of AAL and LB formed the largest fraternal benefit society in the United States, offering a variety of financial services to almost 3 millionmembers.
