Three thousand women gathered July 11-13 in Philadelphia, setting aside daily routines to listen for God's call, often risky business. "Beware! To be called is to be sent," preached ELCA Presiding Bishop Mark S. Hanson at the opening worship service of the 2002 Women of the ELCA Triennial Gathering. "God is calling, softly, tenderly, graciously, persistently," Hanson said.
