Lewis to head Augsburg Fortress

Beth Lewis, a lifelong Lutheran with extensive publishing and management experience, first read about the Augsburg Fortress, Publishers, president and CEO position in an employment ad. She saw it in her parents' copy of The Lutheran's April 2002 issue.

When Lewis checked out the job description on the Internet, it looked "as if someone had taken my resume and read through it," she said. "I thought, 'This is where I'm supposed to be.' "

Five months later, on Aug. 17, the publisher's board elected Lewis, 48, to a four-year term. She replaces Marvin L. Roloff, who announced in October 2001 that he wouldn't seek a third term.
