Lutheran college, university and seminary students expressed concern about a possible war between the United States and Iraq at "Celebrate IV: Weave Us Together," a Dec. 28-Jan. 1 ecumenical event in Albuquerque, N.M.
Of the 1,100 participants, 350 signed a petition against a possible war between the two countries. Signers included Roman Catholics, Episcopalians, Presbyterians, Methodists, Baptists, and members of the Disciples of Christ, United Church of Christ and the Lutheran Student Movement U.S.A.
Meeting separately, LSM-USA adopted a modified version of the petition as a position paper, changing the original wording "in opposition to the war in Iraq" to "in concern to an ongoing war against Iraq."
