Kathleen Kastilahn, editor of People & Faith section, and four colleagues on a Lutheran World Federation-sponsored trip, were released Jan. 28 from detention that began Jan. 24 at a hotel in Zvishavane, Zimbabwe.
Local authorities accused the group — there to report on Lutheran famine relief and AIDS projects — of operating as journalists without accreditation. The state-controlled newspaper Sunday Mail said they were suspected of being "sent into the country to secretly write stories aimed at tarnishing the image of the government." Police twice searched their hotel rooms
