The Magazine of The Evangelical Lutheran Church in America

Gail Tucker, Air Force band musician and wife, Faith, O´Fallon, Ill.

My faith affects the way I live my life day to day.

I worry a great deal about all the things that could happen, especially now that the threat of war is very real. I strive to turn those fears over to God, knowing that everything will be taken care of. There's really nothing else I can do.

It helps to have emotional and physical support. While my job is not directly affected by wartime situations, my husband's is. He is always on deployment status. My biggest fear is for our children's welfare. My job requires frequent travel, and I need someone to care for my two sons when I'm absent. I know that if my husband, Chris, an Air Force base fleet manager, has to leave I can immediately call my pastor
