Incorporating ethnic traditions into sacred music is a vital, ongoing effort with many successes. One of the most remarkable recent compositions is the full-length work La Pasión Según San Marcos (St. Mark Passion) by Argentinean composer Osvaldo Golijov, who now lives in the United States. The work is available on an excellent recording made in 2000 by hänssler Classic, which is connected with the International Bach Academy of Stuttgart, Germany.
