Healing images

Illness can be an invitation to go on a pilgrimage

When we heard that our friend Alice was facing surgery for breast cancer, we knew she would stand up during the "concerns and celebrations" part of our worship service and ask for the congregation's prayers. Our church community has long acknowledged the importance of prayer in times of difficulty, and intercessory prayer is one of our own daily spiritual practices.

Alice also requested that a healing circle be called, and so one Sunday afternoon 20 of her friends from church and work gathered in our living room.
