Seeing stars

Two congregations in Maine take a stand against anti-Jewish acts

Slowly and carefully, the children of Redeemer Lutheran Church, Bangor, Maine, cut six-point stars out of blue construction paper. Then they taped the Stars of David in the windows of their Sunday school classrooms for passers-by to see.

On that same Sunday, members of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, Augusta, Maine, huddled in the September drizzle for group photos. There was nothing unusual about the photos except for the six-pointed yellow stars members had pinned over their hearts.
