"... So that through the church the wisdom of God in its rich variety might now be made known ..." [Ephesians 3:10] There is good news on the youth front. In my travels to synods around the country I have asked clergy and associate s in ministry to tell me what signs of hope they are seeing in their work. I have been surprised at the number of times they have mentioned young people. Young people? Aren't they supposed to be the big problem — not enough of them, not interested in the church, not willing to listen and so forth? The people who work with our youth tell a different story. They
describe today's young people as more interested in service than in
pizza and volleyball. They say there is a new seriousness out there.
Our youth want to count for something.
